Getting ready for the fayre
We are advertising our stall for the summer fayre! We hope we get lots of business and make lots of money!
The Squirrel Team have been working hard in enterprise week. We have made a class stall for the summer fayre. Try our Coconut Shy on Friday. It's £1 a go. We hope we make lots of money!
In science we have been learning about animals and their habitats. We have used globes and maps to see where in the world these animals live. In our Jubilee garden we found a dragonfly living in our pond.
Three Squirrels at the Top Table for fabulous manners
Each week the MId-day supervisors look out for children who are showing good manners, being kind, being helpful, respectful and generally working towards our school values. Six children are chosen from each year group to then sit at our top table at lunchtime on a Friday. They have napkins, a tanle cloth, flowers and juice. What a treat that is! Let's see who can work hard to be chosen to sit at the top table. So far 6 children from the squirrel team have been chosen. Fabulous!
The children loved learning a sequence to music. They listened to the beat and performed fabulously!
Some of our Year 2 children enjoyed themselves at our Yr3 Transition Club on Thursday evening! They met the teachers again and enjoyed some lovely art work!
The Year 2 children have enjoyed another successful transition day at Forest View with the Year 3 children. The theme of the day was dance. The children certainly 'Danced themselves dizzy!'
The children worked in five groups and learnt various dance routines. The children enjoyed line dancing, Irish dancing, dance yourself fit, country dancing and learning the cha cha cha. A wonderful day was had by all!
Whilst learning about Christopher Columbus we have looked at a world map and we are now learning the seven continents and five oceans. Look at a map or atlas at home. Can you find out any facts about the different continents?
Today we have all enjoyed a day at Forest View Academy. We have had a Year 2/Year 3 poetry transition day. The year groups were mixed up and we worked together as a team creating various poems. Now we are really getting excited for September when we will be Year 3s and start our new adventures at our new school!
This half term our topic is Adventures. We are learning about the explorer Christopher Columbus.
In class we have our learning walls to support us with our learning. Once we have learnt something new we share what we have learnt in a speech bubble, for example "I know that .....". Learning isn't easy so it is important that we challenge ourselves and everyday end up in the learning pit.
In P.E. we have been learning lots of skills. We enjoyed playing the game lifeboats and rounders. We had to listen carefully. Each week 3 children are chosen for being a great P.E. Star.
Our great P.E. Lesson
An Easter Experience
Solving division and multiplication problems
When writing we encourage the children to be as independent as possible. If they don't know how to spell a word they use their own word mats, look at the learning wall or use their phoneme mats to help them. If they spell a word incorrectly they will find out how to spell it and use their purple polishing pens to improve their work. In year 2 the children need to learn all the alternative phonemes. Look at the photo to see how many different alternatives there are. This mat helps the children to pick the correct one so they spell accurately.
