English W/C 11th May Naughty Bus

Monday 11th May

This week we will be looking at the book Naughty Bus. Use the link below to listen to the story.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJlLXoaglow

It is very different to stories we are used to as it is illustrated with photographs and the writing looks different.
Once you have listened to the story see if you can retell it to someone in your family. Did you enjoy the book? What was your favourite part?
Can you draw a picture from book?

Tuesday 12th May

We are going to make our own books based on this story.

You need to decide which vehicle you would like in your story. Then take some pictures or draw pictures of what your naughty vehicle will get up to.

My story called Naughty Plane. Here are my pictures that I am going to write about on Wednesday and Thursday.

Wednesday 13th May

Today you are going to start to write your book. Remember to try hard and use your finger spaces. Keep listening to the sounds you can hear in the words.

Here is the beginning of mine.

Thursday 14th May

Today you are going to write the ending to your story. Here is my ending.

Friday 15th May

Today you need to make a front cover and write a blurb for your book. Then tell your story to someone in your house.

English W/C 4th May

Monday 4th May

Albie's Mum wants him to do some gardening but all he wants to do is play. Can you write a speech bubble for what Albie might say to his mum?

Tuesday 5th May

After planting the seeds Albie wakes up and looks out of his window and sees that a jungle has grown. He runs outside to have a look and falls into a giant footprint.

Please  draw a picture of what you think has made the footprint and write a description.

Wednesday 6th May

Albie had fallen into a dinosaur's footprint. He was in the Jurassic era. Next a pterodactyl came and took him into a tree. What do you think might happen next?

Can you draw a picture and write about it. Please remember your sentences don't need to be perfect, you just need to try your best.

Thursday 7th May

Albie managed to escape the dinosaurs and got home safely. The next day he goes out into the garden and his mum wants him to plant some more seeds. These are Alien Atmosphere seeds. What might happen next? Can you make a comic strip for what might happen in space?

What the ladybird Heard

Look at this picture and make a list of all the animals you can think of that live on a farm.

Tuesday 28th April

Can you choose an animal to write a description for?

For example, I am black and white. I am big and have horns. I like to moo. My legs are long and I have 4 of them. I am a cow.

Wednesday 29th April

Today I would like you to make a wanted poster for either Hefty Hugh or Lanky Len. Try and use some adjectives (describing words) so we know what they look like.

Thursday 30th April

Can you think of a plan to stop Hefty Huge and Lanky Len from stealing the fine prize cow? It would be good to draw how you think the animals will stop them and then write the instructions.

Friday 1st May

Today I would like you to help the farmer say thank you to the ladybird for stopping Huge and Len from stealing his cow. You could make a thank you card and write a message inside or write a thank you letter.

English Lessons

Monday 23rd March

I will put a daily English lesson on Tapestry each day this week. The lessons are based on my favourite book 'Wanted the Perfect Pet'.

I am unable to post my video on here so here is a link to the book being read on Youtube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fv-LmIkKMrY

Please stop listening once you have listened to the page ending in, 'with floppy ears and a soft wet nose, and a warm furry tongue.'

Then you can draw and label a picture of a dog or a different pet that you would like to own.

Tuesday 24th March

Watch the story up until, 'And then he waited'. Now write what you would like your pet to look like and be able to do.  e.g. I want my pet to have a loud bark.  He will catch balls and run fast.  He will have brown fur and floppy ears.

Wednesday 25th March

Listen to the story up to, 'He created The Perfect Disguise.'

Can you draw the duck in his disguise and write a list of things he needed to make it?

Thursday 26th March

Today you can enjoy listening to all the story. Once you have listened to the story, can you write a list of things a duck can do?

Maths W/C 11.5.2020

Monday 11th May

Have number cards 1 to 10. Turn them over one at a time. The first person to put the hand on the card and give a double or half facts wins. Please remember not all numbers can be halved.

Tuesday 12th May

Using number cards 1 to 5. Turn over the card and take it in turns to give any number facts about the number. The last person to give a fact wins a point, e.g number card 3 could be double 3 is 6, 1 + 2 = 3, 2 +1= 3, 4-1 = 3 etc.

Wednesday 13th May

By the end of the year you need to know your double facts for the numbers 1,2,3,4,5

and your half facts for 10,8,6,4 and 2. Please keep practising these if you don't know them off by heart.

Can you use these facts to solve these problems?

I have 2 bags of sweets each holding 4 sweets. How many sweets do I have altogether?

I have 10p and I send half of it. How much money have I got left?

I have 6 apples and  I give half to my Mum. How many will she get?

Thursday 14th May

Can you use your double and halving facts to answer these questions?

I am thinking of a number. I double the number and get the answer 4. What number was I thinking of?

I'm thinking of a number. I halve it and get the answer 5. What number was I thinking of?

I'm thinking of a number. I halve it and get the answer 1. What number was I thinking of?

I am thinking of a number. I double the number and get the answer 6. What number was I thinking of?

Ask your grown up to ask you some more questions.

Friday 15th May

Ask your grown up to play bingo with you. Choose 6 numbers between 1 and 10 and put them in a grid like this.

Your grown up needs to ask you questions like double 3 is... half of 10 is... 1 more than 6 is... until you have crossed out all your numbers and shouted bingo!

Maths W/C 4th May

Monday 4th May

Have the numbers 1 to 20 written on a piece of paper. Then turn over a number and try to grab that amount of objects (lego, coins or pasta). Count the objects to see how close you are to the number on the piece of paper. If you are within 2 of the number you score a point. My number was 7 and I grabbed 6 pieces of Lego so I score a point. The first person to get 10 points wins.

Tuesday 5th May

Put some objects into 5 different containers. Without counting them, put the containers into order of least to most. Now estimate how many are in each container and then count them to check.

Wednesday 6th May

Here is a simple Maths game that can help your child with lots of mathematical skills.

1) Ask your child to draw a number track 0 to 20. This will help with number formation.

2) Roll the dice to see what number you will land on. This will help  with addition skills.

3) Ask your child what number they have landed on, especially the teen numbers.

First to 20 wins. It is really good to ask questions as your go e.g, What number do you need to throw to get to the number..., What is double..., what is half of....

Thursday 7th May

Please play the game,, 'Don't say 20'

A game for 2 players. On their turn, the players choose to continue the count with 1,2 or 3 numbers. The next player continues to count. E.g. First player counts 1,2, the second player can count 3 or 3,4 or 3,4,5. The aim is to avoid saying 20.

Maths

Maths week beginning 27th April

Making repeating patterns.

Can you make a repeating pattern using 2 or 3 different colours?

Tuesday 28th April

Look at my repeating patterns. Can you carry them on? You could make your own repeating pattern and see if someone in your family can complete the pattern.

Wednesday 29th April

Can you make a repeated pattern using your body to make different noises?

For example, Clap, clap, stamp, clap, clap, stamp.

Thursday 30th April

Capacity- choose 3 or 4 containers and then put the in order starting with  the one which holds the least amount of water up to the one which holds the most water.

I wonder which order these containers will go in.

Friday 1st May

Estimating capacity- Can you estimate the capacity of some containers? How many small containers do you think it will take to fill a larger one? Can you find 2 different containers which will hold the same amount?

Maths

Maths for the week commencing 30th March

This week we are going to be playing games involving subtraction.

Monday-  This is a 2 or more player game. Everyone starts with a 20 brick tower. Take it in turns to roll the dice and take the number you land on away from your tower. The person who takes all their bricks away first is the winner.  You might like to write the number sentence each time. Good Luck!

Tuesday 31st March

Put the numbers 1 to 9 on the floor. Roll a ball and see what number it lands on. Now take that number away from 10. e.g. the ball lands on 3. Put 10 in your head and count back 3. 10-3 =7. There is a video on Tapestry to help you.

Wednesday 1st April

Today we are still counting back to find the answers to subtraction calculations. Put the numbers 1 to 10 on a piece of paper. Roll the coin and see what number it lands on. Now take the number away from 10 for 20 if you are doing well.

Thursday 2nd April

You will need a coin and a dice. Toss the coin, heads you add, tails you subtract. You can either start with the number 10 or 20. Once you know if you are adding or subtracting, roll the dice to see the number you will be using. E.g. I toss the coin and it lands on tails and the roll the dice and it lands on 4.

10- 4=6 or 20-4= 16

I toss the coin and it lands on heads and I roll the dice and it lands  2.

10 + 2= 12 or 20 + 2 =22.

Friday 3rd April

Please make your own game where you have to practise your addition and subtraction skills.

W/C 23.3.2020

In Maths this week we are going to be practising using a 10 frame to add 2 numbers together.  There is a video on Tapestry to support you with this.

Choose 2 numbers and add them together. Put 1ps coins or counters on your 10 frame to represent the numbers. Then count how many you have altogether. Can you write the number sentence?

Tuesday 24th March

Buy 2 pieces of fruit from my shop. How much have you spent? Use your 10 frame to help you. You might even want to but 3 pieces!

Maths 25th March

You can buy 2 toys from my toy shop but they have to total 10p. Can you find 3 different pairs of toys that equal 10p?

Thursday 26th March

How many ways can you make the number 10?

You will need your 10 frame and 2 different coloured counters e.g. 5ps and 1ps or 2 colours of Lego.
