Well done to the whole Maun Team for such a super effort with costumes for our Road Safety Awareness Day (thanks to our 'Creative Chameleon' parents and carers)! It was lovely to see such a range of outfits, including people who help us keep safe on the roads such as Lollipop Ladies/Men and Police Officers, along with road signs and signals such as traffic lights and STOP signs - we had them all!
Children across school spent time today, learning all about the many ways to keep safe on the roads. Children in KS1 worked with visiting Road Safety Officers to play the giant 'Your Move' game. This involved thinking about the possible dangers when walking and travelling on the roads, and ways to keep themselves safe i.e. by wearing a seat belt and using a booster seat in a car.
Check out the photos below to see the Rabbits and Squirrels learning how to 'Stop, look, listen, think' when they cross a road; the Badgers and Hedgehogs designing and making their own 'Road Safety' board games; and the Butterflies sequencing the steps of the Green Cross Code.
Our theme day today, was all planned and organised by an action team of MPMs (Maun Parliament Members) with the support of Mrs Yates. They even led our assembly at the end of the day and were involved in presenting the winners of our Road Safety Poster competition with their prizes. Well done MPMs - what a fantastic job you've done!
Finally, congratulations to all the prize winners - we'll be displaying the winning posters in our school entrance.
