School Opening Tues 5th Jan

Dear Parents and Carers,

Apologies for the time of this information and the very short notice for the following!  I’m sure that like us, many of you tuned into the Downing Street COVID update tonight and heard the news that schools are to close to all except key worker and vulnerable children from tomorrow.  Please be clear that we heard the news at exactly the same time as you and are now frantically trying to make a plan.  The simple fact is that there is just not the time for us to do this properly before tomorrow so we can ensure the safety of all our children and staff, and so we need to ask for your support.

Tomorrow, school will be closed to all children except key worker children where all of the following apply:

  • all adults in the household are key workers and you will be able to verify this (we may need to ask for confirmation of this from your employer at a later date)
  • all adults within the household are required to leave home and go into work tomorrow
  • it is not possible to make other childcare arrangements within the government guidelines at such short notice

If all of the above criteria is applicable to you, please send your child into school as normal.  All other children should remain at home.

During the course of the day tomorrow, we will then be in touch to find out from all our families, which of you are key workers and will require your child to be in school in the forthcoming weeks.  We’ll then be able to sort staffing around this and start as we mean to go on from Wednesday.  Please also note that remote learning for children who will be staying at home, will start from Wednesday and not tomorrow.

You can find the key worker list provided by the DfE here:

Please keep a close eye on your emails tomorrow as this is the way we will communicate all updates with you and it is likely we will need swift responses from those of you who will require a place in school for your child.

Many thanks in anticipation of your support and understanding.

Best wishes and stay safe,

Miss Norman
