Welcome to the Year 1 page. Our Year 1 page informs you about our learning this half term. The children can wear their active wear on Mondays and Wednesdays when they will be doing PE.
Please bring your reading book and diary to school everyday. The reading books and Gold Star books will be changed every Friday.

How can music unite us?
The Beatles were a very famous UK band. They made music from 1962 until 1970. The Beatles became very famous across the world.
Our Learning
English: We will be reading The Elves and the Shoemaker and a non-fiction text You wouldn't want to be a Victorian child. Every day, we will take part in phonics and handwriting sessions.
Maths: We will continue with White Rose Maths. We will solving additions and subtractions within 20. We will be working on place value with numbers up to 50. The children will also be learning about length and height and solving problems.
Music: We will listening to music by The Beatles and thinking about how their music changed over time. We will be comparing music by The Beatles and to Pop Artists nowadays. We will be finding out about different instruments. We will continue singing using the Voices Foundation programme. We will be learning about pulse and timbre.
Science: We will be learning about the evergreen and deciduous trees. We will also be learning about wild-flowers.
PE: In REAL PE, we will be developing our creative skills. We will be developing our ball skills and balances with and without a partner. We will be observing and copying others and exploring different movements.
RE: We will be listening to religious stories about Jesus and stories that he told. We will be finding out what we can learn from these stories.
Art: We will be learning about printing. Investigating materials to print with. Creating our own designs for mono-printing.
History: Changes within living memory, including changes in aspects of national life. The lives of significant individuals who have contributed to national and international achievements. We will be comparing life in different periods.
